Can I upgrade the graphics of my laptop?

I receved COD4 for PC from a friend for Christmas. Being completely knew to computer gaming, I know that my Gateway T-6836 notebook, with integrated Intel graphics, is not suitable for gaming as it is. Can I buy/upgrade to a discrete graphics card and install it in my laptop, or is this not an option?

Thanks,
Julian

I am not 100% sure but laptops, aside from adding more RAM, can not be upgraded with newer or better hardware... ie: video cards.

Now, since you have the game already and I doubt you can get your money back for it (or even half of it), might as well try to install it and see if it plays on it. Might have to set it up on lower resolutions but worth a try... CoD 4 is a cool game

No. You can't. Graphics on laptops are integrated into the mobo, so short of buying a new mobo for your laptop (and even then) it is simply cheaper to just get a separate computer to play it.

P.S. COD4 is awesome

I can't understand why you want to game on a laptop with such a small screen, and even if you have a 17" screen, that thing is so heavy is not even funny, then again, I guess being over 40 yrs old doesn't help either... I'll take an awesome PC desktop for 3K thank you very much! ;) :D

I would take a desktop too. I can understand why some people want to game on laptops, but its not practical...

If you're interested in building a gaming rig, you can easily build a decent desktop for sub $700 that will handle most any game you throw at it.

But yea, you can't upgrade the graphics processor on your notebook. Only a VERY few number of laptops can do that and those I don't call laptops. :)
