S-video issue

Hey well ive just bought the ATI Asus 4830 and ive output it to my old tv because theres 2 compuiters in my house and 1 REAL monitor. so i have to use my tv as a monitor for a few weeks till i buy my monitor, but im having a problem, ive put the graphics card in and its working perfect, everything stable no OC or anything different. and i go onto the desktop install the latest ati driver go to the catalyst control centre and set the resulution to 1024 * 758nd then the image goes really ...well blury..at lower resulution like 800*600 its very clear but also very big.... so thats my 1st problem
blur resulution at high res
my other problem is the refresh rate, it says the tv can support 60hz at 1024 * 758

but in the settings the drop down list only shows 25hz

=/ although it could mean that S-VIDEO can only support 60hz not my monitor

Thanks

Re: S-video issue

Do you know for a fact that the TV supports those kinds of resolutions? I have a 32" Toshiba flat panel that was the biz a few years ago, it only supports up to 720 x 540 res if at all.

I really don't know much about ATI cards so I can't tell you anything more. Hope others with more experience will chime in soon.

Well thats the thing the ati control pannel says it supports 60hz at 1024 * 758 but i have no idea if it means my tv or if it means thats the max that any S-video can support, its a pretty old but big tv, its 4:3... not widesreen

Yeah, I am thinking that you are misunderstanding what ATI is telling you since ATI woudn't know what your TV is capable off at least... I don't think so!

I would try to use the lowest res you can or ATI can handle to see if that makes any difference, at least, until you can get a 19", 22" or 24" LCD monitor... you can get those from 150 to 280 now a days (if you shop around that is.)

Speaking of the Devil... TV's - Viewsonic 22" LCD HDTV (N2230W-S) (Viewsonic) - eCOST.com - electronics, computers, laptops, mp3 players

or

Monitors - Viewsonic 26" LCD HDTV ( VX2640W-S ) (Viewsonic) - eCOST.com - electronics, computers, laptops, mp3 players
