LCD is an HP w2207h with 1 HDMI and 1 VGA, im currently using VGA with a dvi->VGA dongle. Graphics card is ATi 3870 with 2 x DVi, i read something about the dongle that it isn´t going to work. So i brought a cable brand Lindy Gold Premium 2mtr.

Native resolution is 1680*1050@60Hz

I can´t do more than 1440*900 and then the screen is blurry. If i set it to 1680*1050@60Hz the LCD goes no signal. I even tried 1920*1xxx but it was a very small picture and flickering even more.

Im using the latest ATi CCC and Vista Home Premium x64.
Other specs.
MB: Gigabyte GA-EX58-DS4
CPU: i7 920
RAM: OCZ 3x2GB
HDD: 2 x 250Gb RAID0

Is there something in CCC i have to set so i can use HDMI.

Sounds like the monitor does not like the Video card. Does your mobo have integrated graphics? There should be another VGA plug up higher. Plug into that and see if the same problem occur.

that is one cool monitor, and why are you using HDMI for pc anyway? get a DVI-VGA adaptor, and connect with that, it will be just as good a picture and less *sharp* look to it.

@MrNeeds

So you are saying, there is no difference in using HDMI->DVI cable than DVI->VGA

Having a friend over tonight, he´s doning the same monitor but an 3870X2 at 1680*1050 with HDMI. using HQ Quality Series cable.

Oh well ill get back when i tried again.... so far thanks for response, didn´t get anything in 2 other forums.

the only reason i see to use hdmi is for DHCP which isnt necessary unless you are watching Blu-ray movies on your pc

I had a friend over and he´s cable was working, we looked at then DVI since and saw that there were som differences.

You´ll probably has to klik on Picture to see the pins. Sorry for the sites to be in Danish....but the picture is enough to see the difference.
This one isn´t working, see the pins Av-Cables.dk ApS*» Billede kabler*» DVI kabel*» DVI til HDMI kabel*» Lindy 1.3 High End DVI - HDMI kabel - 0.5 m

This one is working, see the pins Av-Cables.dk ApS*» Billede kabler*» DVI kabel*» DVI til HDMI kabel*» Profigold High Quality DVI - HDMI kabel - 0.5 m

So we egreed on that the numbers of pins did the difference......
I will call the shop and ask to ship bacl and buy the profigold, i may not get a difference to see, but anyway signal should be better.

the adaptor i got with my gfx card was a dvi to hdmi adaptor and i noticed the pins are slightly different to the actual dvi cable i have, more pins in the adaptor

After i have spoken to the shop, the no. pins didn´t matter.

For DVI there are these 2 types; Digital and analog.
DVI-D has 2 different types:
Singel has a max. res. 1920x1080@60Hz TMDS speed 1,65 Gbps
Dual has a max. res. 2048x1536@100Hz TDMS speed 2,00 Gbps

I think i has something to do with the TMDS speed, for some LCD.

I brought a new DVi-D dual link... more to come when recieving it.

still shouldnt affect the output as you said the single supports 1920x1080@60hz so theres no reason it shouldnt work.

In CCC, which should be version 8.12, there are two monitor settings. Just clcik the other one and then your display will come back to normal. That happened to me as well. I have the exact system set up as you, but am running a 3870 X2. I mainly use the computer as a Blue Ray player and run it on a Panasonic 50 inch plasma.
