| Vista Home Premium 32 bit | bfg nvidia 8400gs driver update OK, for sh##s and grins I went to nvidia to check and see if there where any driver updates for my bfg nvidia 8400 gs graphics card. There was, so I went ahead and downloaded it. The download went off with out a hitch and no ill effects that I can notice as of the moment. My concern is and it's not a big one but still a concern non the less, is that when I checked my Windows Experience Index base score, it changed. Sure I was expecting it to but go up not down. All of my base scores stayed the same except my graphics score...it went from a 4.1 to 4.0. No big deal, a tenth of a point but back wards. Does any body have an idea or reason for this. I would just like some clarification on this. The rest of my scores are as follows: 5.4, 5.9, 4.0, 4.9, 5.8 respectively. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: bfg nvidia 8400gs driver update First of all, I'd get a new 8800 ($90) or 9800($115), because they're not at all expensive and your pc won't be bottlenecked in such a measure.. Second of all, I wouldn't add too much importance to that WEI score.. I installed 1 more gig of RAM not so long ago, better one then the one I already had and my WEI went down as well..:s Amplid |

| Vista Home Premium 32 bit | Re: bfg nvidia 8400gs driver update Yeah, your right on getting a new card. This one was a b-day gift from my dad he couldn't remember what I told him. So not to hurt his feelings I used it any way. To upgrade my card I will need to change out my psu as well. Only have a 350 watt as listed in my specs and with one of the suggested upgrade models I will be forced to change it out. No biggy on doing that, just convincing the wife I need to shell out another couple hundred bucks on my computer again...lol. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: bfg nvidia 8400gs driver update Well, it's the gesture that matters, right I would recommend a PC Power & Cooling and I wouldn't go much above 800 W, as newer hardware becomes more and more energy-efficient, so you don't need so much juice... A warning though, 750W and up, the PC P&C is pretty long so make sure it fits your case if you would ever buy one![]() Good luck convincing! ![]() Amplid |

| ultimate 64 SP1 | Re: bfg nvidia 8400gs driver update well.... the PSU you buy will largely depend on the new GFX card.... ![]() i'd only look at an 800w if you were going for a GTX295 & you have a bucket load of peripherals... other than that its a little overkill, if your mobo was able to support more H/W in the future then a large PSU will serve you well... but if all your going to do is use the existing H/W in your sig & just update the card, you wont need 800w, a good 600w maybe overkill.
