| Vista Home Premium 32bit | System Hangs (Re: nVidia GeForce FX5200) Hello, I installed my FX5200 in Oct., 08. It had been working fine till recently when I was playing a game (GTA:San Andreas). I had been using it for this game until some days ago when i realized some brief moments of hanging during play. This continued at shorter intervals till finally the game stopped working. I had to turn off the pc from the mains to resume. Then i realized windows stopped working after i key in my password. I could only start in safe mode and uninstalled the AGP drivers for the nVidia. It helped me, but then trying to reinstall causes the same problem. I have 2 hard drives one running on vista x32 home premium editon, and the other on windows 7. The hanging problem is common in both operating systems. Now, I have checked with dxdiag, and see that my no available accelerations for both the directx10 on vista and directx11 on windows 7. I think the problem has to do with the AGP drivers. I need urgent help, thanks. |

| Vista Ultimate 64 bit | Re: System Hangs (Re: nVidia GeForce FX5200) Hi Cruxifx, welcome to the board. Here is a couple of things come to mind; first, check to see if your unit needs a clean up. Try to blew all the dust bunny out with spray air especially on the GPU and the CPU. Next check you SATA connections while you had the case open by disconnect and reconnect, wiggle, and shake the connection at the HDDs. Hope this helps. If not we start from there. Bruce |

| ultimate 64 SP1 | Re: System Hangs (Re: nVidia GeForce FX5200) is it possible to install the AGP driver in ''safe mode''..?? there is a real possibility your card may have gone ''the way of the pear'' , is there any way you can try the card elsewhere..??this will allow you to write off H/W as the issue & you can then move onto the S/W troubleshoot... | Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: System Hangs (Re: nVidia GeForce FX5200) Bruce and SK, thanks. I will start with the cleaning then check the connctions. I it does not fix the problem then, I will look for anoher pc to test it on. I would return with my findings. Its sure good to be in a forum like this I hope to contribute more. OOps, SK, I cant install in safe mode. But, i can when I start windows normally, just after the reboot the problem starts. I noticed that the heatsink is extremely hot after that. Thanks once more. |
