anyone else try installing the avivo video converter? amd finally released the x64 version. i downloaded it along with catalyst 9.2 and hydravision. i installed everything but cannot access the AVC. i know that i am supposed to start CCC in basic mode to access the AVC, but i cannot on this system. (I have 32bit winxp pro on another computer with an hd 3870 with the AVC installed also, so i know how i'm supposed to start it)

the specs on the machine i can't run AVC on are listed below. anyone else have any success on a x64 system with avivo video converter?

It's not the 64 bit version on the amd site, it's the 32 bit version that is in the vista 64 bit drivers section for some reason. I could not get it to work either. If you look on the drivers disc that come with your card & explore it theres a 64 bit version & a 32 bit on there, so in the end i just installed the one off the disc which works fine. If you check out this link to this ati site & navigate to optional downloads 64 bit it reads by the download link that Avivo Package will be available soon for vista 64.

Depends what time of the month it is? I have a uk isp.
I don't use the program, never even knew it was on the disk...but...I was under the impression this software was only released in Dec of 08? If that's true, It wouldn't be on my disk since I bought the card in Jul 08.

Also are you saying no one in that thread has Vista x64? I surely thought some did. Hmmm.

At any rate like I said before, I don't use the program so...

Glad you got it working.

i checked it out. thanks. that is strange that the download is shown as available in one place for x64 drivers and in another section (the link you provided), it is shown as available soon. that kinda crazy.

you say it is on the disc? how old is your card? i have an hd 4870 that i bought in september '08. to my knowledge, amd/ati didn't even acknowledge the existence of the avivo video converter until, i think, jan '09. i'll check my driver disc just to make sure.

My cards maybe almost a year old I think now? it's a sapphire 2600 pro and it's agp version which has it's problems at times. The driver vesion on the disc is 7.10 but the avivio codecs don't install if you follow the normal setup i had to explore the disc to find them? 64bit ones where there? It's fast to decode files but it never uses the gpu my cpu is mostly maxed out. Format support is also poor. I did read that it does not support gpu assisted on vista 64. Some people seem to have got the 32 bit version running on vista64 with mixed results tho. It's a shame ati are so incompetent when it comes to driver support.

He's talking about the avivo codecs. The (new) ATI Avivo Video Converter wasn't even released till Dec 08. And It only applies to the 4800 and 4600 series GPU's.

The video converter comes with the codecs it's a package they need to be there for the vidoe converter to work. I thought they where both separate but they always come as one download sometimes the download is just called avivo codecs for some reason?

What video card are you running, and are you using the (new) ATI Avivo Video Converter as explained in the link? I use the term "new" because there seems to be some confusion about another (older?) converter discussed here. However, according to this...

1 The ATI Video Converter is only supported on ATI Radeon™ 4600 and ATI Radeon™ 4800 Series GPUs.

2 The pre-release version of ATI Video Converter demonstrates ...

This says that this particuliar software is new and exclusive to the 46 & 48 hundred series cards only.

Heck, even ATI seems to be confused as to the supported video cards. This link says 2,3 & 4 thousand series cards are supported. Also as of today, the download link is inactive, even though the posted date is Feb 20th, 2009. Says package available soon. Note that this is the 64-bit version.

Ati don't half confuse sometimes when it comes to drivers. I have the HD 2600 PRO which is ment to support avivo converter. I have it on my basic view ccc options i have also used it a few times. It is fast but the results are mixed when it comes to quality output. I installed the avivo codecs and it must come with them as it was then in my ccc. I tryed the new version but it would not install, so i reinstalled the old one off my disc.

Sorry

that's the screen i went to download the "x64" version of the video converter. i installed it, but i cannot get it to work. i also went to the link greeneggsandham provided which said that the download would be available shortly. honestly, right now, i don't care if i cannot get it to work on my x64 system, as i have it on my xp box running an hd 3870. i was really just curious if anyone else with an x64 system was running into the same problem as i, and if so, what their remedy was. thanks to all who gave their input, though.
