| Vista x64 + Windows 7 x64 (Ultimate) | Re: XFX 8800GT graphics card problem...??? The simple reason could be that the drivers for the card are for XP and not Vista but, it may very well be that you are looking on the wrong folder of the disk. You will be better off downloading the latest drivers for it since the ones on the cd may very well be obsolete by now... GeForce Release 182 My advice is to also download the Nvidia Driver Sweeper from here... Guru3D - Driver Sweeper Once you have downloaded both, make sure you save them to a folder you can get to it later on. Uninstall the drivers you have now with the sweeper and after you reboot, make sure you install the new drivers but "Run as Administrator" instead of just double cliking on it. If you installed it correctly, you should be able to go to Device Manager and under Video Devices you will see the name of your video card instead of just Std or Generic VGA drivers. |

| Vista Home Premium 64bit SP2 | Re: XFX 8800GT graphics card problem...??? As skunksmash says get the latest drivers from the NVidia site , i have an 8800GT and the latest WHQL drivers are top notch , no problems at all so far gaming or watching movie. Im assuming yuor setup didnt detect your card as it usually gets manufacturer info from the cards bios via the drivers , but the software to detect that will have been on the disc but obviously not installed. To check it all yourself this is a handy wee app GPU-Z Video card GPU Information Utility |

| Vista x64 + Windows 7 x64 (Ultimate) | Re: XFX 8800GT graphics card problem...??? Run the sweeper and make sure you only tell it to delete/uninstall or clean the drivers for the video card as if you have Nvidia Chipsets for your board, it could nuke the drivers for your ethernet, smbus, etc, etc. Other than that, what is does is, it deletes the entries in your registry that points to the driver and sometimes conflicts with the installation of new drivers. At least, that is what I have always understood. |
