New Graphics Card?
Hello there, sorry really to bother all of you but I figured you would be the people to ask, see I am hoping to get a new graphics card for my Birthday and am really unsure of what I shoud be looking at but my current Ati Radeon Sapphire 1550 is dying, I would like a significant upgrade too, I would just like to know the most powerful, though best suited graphics card for my pc..

2 +12v rails. One @ 14A and a second @ 15A. 425W is the Wattage yes. My Psu is a Jeantech.

I'm from London, with about £150 to spend..

hm....... do you have a pci x16 slot? and.... are you a heavy gamer? also seeing as how you already have a ati card......... i'm sure a 3870 would fit quite nicely could you fill your specs out a little more?

as pizzaman has stated what lvl of graphical quality do you need..?? do you game..??

if so, that PSU is a real cause for concern, especially with the newer cards....

i'd recommend a GTS250, or a HD4850 for the £150 bracket, but these cards will struggle with that power unit...

is there no way you could save for a few more weeks & buy a better PSU & card at the same time..??

does that PSU even have a dedicated 6pin connection for a 3rd party GFX card..??



& where abouts in london are you..??

I do, game, though not with many different games, I run the Elder Scrolls 4:Oblivion, often with mods enabled. So basically thats all I want to run. Perhaps the game 'The Witcher' in the near future.

Yes I do have a Pcix16 slot.

How much would a new decent powersupply cost, I don't have much more than a now £200.. So I may not be able too. I don't really want an amazing card. Just a decent improvment on my old one.

hm.... you could get the 3870 and a good psu very easily for 200
look for a cosair or thermaltake around 600 to 800 watts

Corsairs have a decent rep and with that PSU you could move up to a 4870 or GTX 285 down the track if need be.

i think a 4870 is at least 150 right now if not more....
