Hi,

I was wondering if I should buy another 4850 and CF it as I am buying a 1080p 24" monitor. I am also visiting Taiwan for a week or so and was wondering wether I should try get one from there cheap? or will there be a problem since my 4850 is from Australia.

Also do you need to buy the same brand of 4850 to CF as I have a Gigabyte 512mb or will any brand 512mb one do.

I only have a 600W PSU, would that be enough for 4850 CF ?

Thanks,

(Check other stats in tab also its a Q9450 2.66ghz*)

If your 600 watt PS has three sets of 8 pin and 6 pin connectors and is crossfire ready (which I am sure it does not) you will be fine. You will need one 8 pin for the MB and two more for the Graphics cards. That is usually the major problem with most PS units.

You don't need the same brand but you do need to keep them the same series. The 3800 and the 4800 will not crossfire. Take a look at ATI's site and they show what cards will crossfire. If you have an ATI and a Sapphire then there is no problem as long as they are both the same series, ex: 4800 series.

This appears to be the extra 8 pin adapter that adds two rails for the making the 6 pin to an 8 pin. This says it will accommodate the two crossfire cards. When you look at getting the graphics card be sure to check that your 600 PS matches the ability of having the two graphics cards before you buy anything by checking the manufacturer's website of the specific graphics card specs and requirements. From the info you have listed you nshould be good to go on a number of the latest cards. As you are not a big gamer the Xfire is not an issue. The ATI 2900 is a great card, just as big as the 3870x2 and 4870x2. I know it is so hard to pick just one as they all look great. All you need to do is search for what meets your price range now. Good luck.:geek:

Well I'm not sure about manufacturers, but I highly doubt your PSU will be able to sustain two 4850s. If you have two PCI slots and the money for it, why not use crossfire? But you could also stick with your substantial GPU and take a small cut in FPS if its not that big of a deal. I know one 4850 could handle it. Another option would be to sell your current card on ebay or what have you, and take the profit and put it toward a beefier graphics card. Probably cheaper and less power usage for the same performance. Good luck.

You can use your 600 watt power supply to run two 4850's.

Good luck
