Okay^ thanks..

I have a HP dv5 series laptop, running Vist Enterprise 32bit on it. I have an NVIDA GeForce 9600m GT gfx card. When i leave my laptop lid down for a while, my resolutions keep setting back to default.

Anyone know something that might stop this from happening?

THanks

Hey bartman, I feel your pain.

I have (or should I say my boss has) a Sony VAIO with the same gpu, which has a native res. of 1920 x 1080. This is too high, so he sets it to a lower resolution. Then, whenever he logs off or restarts, the display comes back up at the proper settings for a few seconds, then the screen flickers and resets itself to the native res. This happens no matter who I log in as, or whether I log on to our domain or not. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

have you installed the NVidia drivers? or are you using the Vista default driver?

Hey archie123,
This is a brand new (2 weeks old) machine with the most up to date (according to the Sony site) NVidia drivers installed. My next step is to uninstall and reinstall the current drivers, and if that doesn't work, I may install the latest drivers from the NVidia site, although they say they aren't supported on Sony VAIO laptops.

Sorry for the double post, I didn't think the first one went through.

PS - You may find that you "have" to get those video drivers from Sony.

Well, I was finally able to get the machine to keep the last selected resolution by deleting the NVidia drivers and just using the native Vista ones. This loses the high resolutions, but since the user isn't using them, I figure for now this is a good workaround until MS and/or NVidia (whoever is causing the problem) can get their s#%t together and get things worked out.
