| Vista Ultimate 32 bit | BSOD after video card install I have a custom built computer.Asus p5n-d motherboard,4 GB ram with Vista Home Premium 64 bit.I installed a Geforce 9800 GTX+ and after installing the drivers the pc gets a blue screen when I boot into windows.I can't tell what error code code it is since it is too fast to see anything.I installed new drivers but Vista still doesn't boot.It takes on the black screen with a cursor. You can move the cursor but it stays like that forever.Any suggestions to how to fix this problem will be appreciated. Thanks |

| Vista x64 + Windows 7 x64 (Ultimate) | Re: BSOD after video card install Go to SAFE MODE, uninstall the new Nvidia drivers, reboot into your desktop and Vista will install Generic VGA drivers. Make sure your Monitor is listed under Device Manager/Monitors, if Generic PnP Monitors is listed, therein may lie your problem and you also need to look for Vista x64 specific drivers for your monitor. Other thing you can try is... Download latest Nvidia drivers, 182.50 I think are the newest, make sure you save them inside a folder you can get to later. Go to the saved file and extract contents there. Go to Device Manager/Display adapter/Drivers tab, click on Update drivers, and DO NOT install Recommended drivers, instead, choose to look for drivers yourself, browse to the extracted files and choose the new x64 .INF file and let it run. Reboot when asked and pray for the best ![]() I have a funny feeling that you are going to need to update your monitor drivers as well but, you may get away just with the above. |

| Ultimate x64 SP2 | Re: BSOD after video card install Disable automatic restart to retrieve the error code. Go into safe mode. Then right click computer, click 'advanced system settings' on the left hand side. Under the advanced tab, click 'settings' under start up and recovery. Uncheck the box that says 'automatically restart' and click ok. |
