My monitor display has started to flash black for a secound & then back on again?

I have a aus p5q-em with G45 intel chipset & i have had this board about a month almost now.

I'm using the onboard intel graphics with the VGA out to my VGA display.
This problem has only started happening within the last 20-ish days or so.
The display will periodicly flash black for a secound & then back on again? it's almost like changing your screen resolution but with no apparent resizing taking place, although it does seem to happen mostly when I expand windows more than any other time.

Everything still carrys on as normal on the computer when this display blackout happens.

I have tested my ram with memtest to rule out ram problems as it's new. I'm not getting any errors to suggest theres some ram issues or any related symptoms for ram associated problems. anyway & it's now past 3 memtest sessions with no errors.

I have also carried out orhtos & prime95 test just to stress the Ram & CPU to see if I got any errors reported with nothing reported. Only once did a blackout happen during testing when I was maximizing a window but the test reported nothing?
I can't find anything in windows event log either. Anybody have any similar problems or know what could be causing this dispaly issue? Is it a graphics problem.
Thanks for your time.

Have you checked the cable connections? Are they clean and tight? Do you have another cable you could switch out to at least eliminate the cable to the monitor as the cause?

I have no other cables at hand sadly.
It's the same cable I used with my old setup with no problems & it's securely attached no bends or damage. It's been untouched or moved & the new system was fine when I 1st set it up for the 1st few weeks then this problem just started.

I have tried reinstalling the drivers a few times now with no luck. There are no new drivers available just yet to try out.

Under Device Manager/Monitors, do you have:

A.- Your monitor's name

or

B.- Generic or Std PnP or Non-PnP Monitor

If "B", perhaps a driver update is in order.

Vista x64 is a very stable OS and I love it because games play very smooth with it. Down side of it is, aside from being slightly cumbersome (read: not user friendly, for the mere mortal) on some areas, that not everyone has drivers for it and it could be a Royal Pain in the, well, you know ;) if you don't have them.

I am not saying, with a 100% certainty, that this is your problem but I have a funny feeling it is.

I am to lazy to go back and ready all the replies but, my sugestion is, if you have not already try it, download fresh drivers of your Video, Sound & monitor and save them some place you can get to it later.

Uninstall the drivers you have now, reboot and install the new ones. Make sure you run the installation as Administrator and not just by double clicking on the setup.exe file.

I'll try new display drivers when there out, but I was running vista64 on my old boared to with the same monitor listed as generic in device manager but with no problems.
