| Vista Home Premium 64 | New nVidia Drivers re-arrange dual monitors For the last few months I have been using a GeForce 8800 GTS graphics card with two monitors attached. I have nVidia drivers from 3/27/2009 (version 7.15.11.8250 according to device manager) installed. My monitors are configured (through the Windows Display Settings) such that my primary monitor (identified as "1") is to the right of my secondary monitor (identified as "2"). My second monitor also functions as a TV (with its own tuner) and when put into TV mode, it disconnects from the computer. When returning from TV mode, the monitor is again detected by Windows, and my dual monitor setup is restored. I just downloaded and tried the latest drivers (182.50 5/7/2009) from the nVidia site. I can configure my monitors correctly, but after the second monitor returns from TV mode (which again, disconnects and then reconnects the monitor with the computer) Windows thinks monitor 2 is on the right of monitor 1. I can manually go into the Display Settings and correct this, but the issue returns as soon as my second monitor is disconnected/reconnected (for TV mode). Nothing else has changed, except the video card drivers, and rolling back the drivers fixes the issue. While it is not necessary for me to upgrade right now, I'm sure I will inevitably need to update the graphics drivers, and would therefore like to get this problem worked out. Any ideas? |

| Vista Home Premium 32-bit & Vista Ultimate 64-bit both Service Pack 2 W7 Pro RTM 7600 32 & 64 | Re: New nVidia Drivers re-arrange dual monitors For the latest driver, please see Latest NVIDIA ForceWare Video Drivers When you install, or reinstall, a graphics driver the graphics configuration is set to its default because the settings in the registry are written according to the instructions in the installation routine. When you roll back a driver, it is not the default settings that are implemented in the registry; rather it is the settings that have been saved when the driver was automatically backed up when you installed or reinstalled the driver. These settings include any changes that you make. |

| Vista Home Premium 64 | Re: New nVidia Drivers re-arrange dual monitors I hope this doesn't come across as rude, but what does any of that have to do with my problem? My system works fine now with slightly out dated drivers. I install newer drivers, configure my monitor layout as appropriate, then disconnect the second monitor/restart/resume from suspend/any number of other things and my monitor layout is reset to the (incorrect) default. |

| Vista Home Premium 64 | Re: New nVidia Drivers re-arrange dual monitors Fantastic. I'm glad to hear it is a bug. Is this documented somewhere (officially)? I don't mind waiting for a new version of the drivers, I was just concerned that this was a problem specific to my computer and that it would present itself with any nVidia driver updates. |

| Vista Home Premium 64bit SP2 | Re: New nVidia Drivers re-arrange dual monitors NVidia officially admitting a bug!!?? ![]() sometimes they will re release a driver under the same version to fix the bug , but they will probably just fix it in the next release , or knowing them it'll be in the next release too |
