Want to find a slim case graphics card with some HP

I have a dell 530s slim tower Inspriation desktop. All I want to do is be able to use the Windows Flight Sim Acceleration software. The card that comes with the computer doesn't have enough Horse power. I need a card that would be like a ge Force3 Radeon 8500 or better. The problem is getting a card that will fit in the case and slot. I'm told its a half card or slim profile.
What will work? I would rather not spend more than $75. Is this doeable for something realiable. The Flight Sim without loading the Acceleration software that provides carrier ops, pylon racing etc. As I am a retired Marine Corps attack/fighter pilot it would be nice to try these.
Any help out there?

Re: Want to find a slim case graphics card with some HP

I have the 64bit Vista os system. How do I specify the correct brand/part number for a GS card and can you lead me to someone who sells it?
I talked to Dell and they didn't have anything in stock that would work.
I just want to make sure that what I order will A) fit in the slim line Dell 530s tower and slot B) work with reliablity C) not cost a bunch of $

Re: Want to find a slim case graphics card with some HP

I'll give you some advice, never order parts from Dell. Take down what is recommended for your machine and look it up elsewhere, Dell overprices.

Here is the 512MB 8400GS

512MB Version - 8400GS

This would be the best version of the 8400GS, XFX is a great brand, it has a lot of memory, it looks nice, and most importantly it fits in your case.

512MB is the one you should go for. Might I recommend Newegg.com to be your stop for all your Dell needs?

If I helped, go ahead and add to my reputation

You could be right. I'm not sure what power connectors it needs.

Re: Want to find a slim case graphics card with some HP

The 9500GT is like the 4650, neither require the extra power connection. Seeing as they both perform about the same (the 9500 is marginally faster in most things, around 2-3 FPS; and both of them will slap the 8400GS silly), it won't matter too much which one to get. I would just go with the one that fits your budget the best.

P.S. For Everlong18, if you haven't check the link to the card I posted on Newegg. They have a great image gallery for almost every product they sell, with close to 360° views.

Okay. Also. The 9500GT requires 350W PSU, the Inspiron 531s has a 250W PSU. It's possible to run the 9500GT on that but would it be the most reliable?
