Standard VGA graphics card problem

hey guys, i just downgraded from Win 7 to Vista ultimate 32 bit on my dell dimension 2350 and having problem with the screen resolution, i cant get it to high resolution, drivers are upto date and had the same problem with win 7... but somehow, i was able to get it to work

its running Generic PnP monitor with Standard VGA Graphics adapter

i am out of thoughts and in need of urgent help

where did you get the drivers from for yuor graphics card/chip?

if its listed as a "standard vga graphics adapter" the im assuming you let windows install them for you?

try here (Del lists your chip as intel)

Another thing you might check is the max resolution of your monitor.

My wide screen monitor can handle the max resolution of my G100 video card, 1680x1050.

However, my 19" standard width Acer can only go to 1280x1024 on the same computer as that is the max res for that monitor.

Since I don't have Win7, I don't know what affect it being there would have to allow you to use max res, but not in Vista.
