Hey everyone,

I am having a bit of a problem with my Nvidia Geforce 7950 gx2, everytime I download the new update it stalls and then goes to a black screen then boots a blue error that has nvlddmkm.sys....I can't figure out what to do. Tried everything and still need some help.

I am running
- Vista Ult. x64
- ASUS A8N-SLi Prem
- Nvidia 7950 gx2
- AMD 64 X2 Dual Core Proc 4200

Thanks, and hopefully someone can help me out a little.

what new update? windows?

just uninstall yuor gpu drivers , reboot so vista installs its generic ones then try again , it might help :)

if your problem is your trying to install new Nvidia drivers then just give up , that card is notorious for being a dog , the driver supporet was always shocking for it , so pick some drivers that work and stick with em ;)

Thanks for the advice, and I should have said that the new updates arent working at all. Do you know where I could find a driver that would work for it? If so that would be great. Oh and how do I go about cleaning up the Gpu, I have little knowledge in that.

Well here the thing, it isn't installed, and when I go to install it constantly stalls in the middle of the install and then goes blank. I have deleted all of the nvlddmkm.sys that were causing a problem. Now my computer won't recognize the card, and I can't figure out why it won't install and the update wont work at all.

please give me a link to where your getting the drivers from and download and install this

Guru3D - Driver Sweeper (Setup) download from Guru3D.com

the instructions on how to use it (in safe mode AFTER uninstalling current drivers and you would select NVIDIA DISPLAY ONLY) are on the download page

I just go to Nvidia's website for the download, I go to download drivers and then put in my card info and what system I am running it with. It gives me a 186.18 WHQL download...but it never works and it screws up my computer.

ah i see , just checking :p

so what drivers did yuo use previously? can you use them again?

can you also try uninsalling your drivers booting into safemode and using driver sweeper (it cleans out all the remnants of drivers left behind by the uninstall) then boot into windows and try installing again

Alright I downloaded Driver Sweeper, and I cleaned out all of my old Nvidia files. Now I am instaling the geforce 109.15 Driver and I am hoping that helps. If that doesnt work what other options do I have?
