Black Screen (or is it blue?)

Note my name, I really hardly know one button from another on these infernal machines but I have to try something to fix a very annoying very recent problem. Since some sort of MS download (no idea which one) my screen goes black & can't always be brought back by plugging and unplugging. Now, even when I log on it is black. Sometimes I can get it back, but if I leave the pc for too long off it goes again not to be retrieved at all. The monitor is happy & healthy when i do get it back so what is happening and how do I fix it?

    Hello vege gardener,
If this happened after a download, then try a system restore.
Follow the link and restore to a point before the problems started, good luck and post your results.

thanks for that. Have done a restore back 2 weeks to when I think the problem started. Will have to turn pc on as soon as I get home tomorrow & see if it is cleared up or not. I'll keep you posted.

Re: Black Screen (or is it blue?)

have had two reocurrences of this issue but the second time I pressed that moon/sleep button on the keyboard & heard the system power down, then i lightly pressed the power switch to wake it up again and have spent the rest of the day (so far) with no jammed black screen in evidence. fingers crossed that we have resolved the problem. Going to run it for another couple of days to see what happens before running any of the updates I took off in the restore. Thanks for the info.
