The only thing that lets ATI down are the drivers
. Sure, they're not as bad as they used to be from what I hear (I've only been using them since Cat 8.10), but there is room for improvement.
Nvidia just seem to be on the ball with newer game release support than ATI. The Nvidia users complain, Nvidia release a beta driver
. ATI users complain, ATI just releases silence....
