Vista - problem with Radeon hd4770 no hdmi sound output

i got a new graphics cards fitted to my pc as my last one died the new card is a Radeon hd4770 the problem is that i cant get audio sound through hdmi wire when i am sending the signal to my tv

when i go on playback option on sound config page it says ATI HDMI OUTPUT not plugged in and wont let me enable it

as anyone got any clues

when you got the card what came with it? was there a wee cable a really thin one with tiny plugs on it? (its an SPDIF connector)

got a wire which looks one end its an svideo connection on other side three seperate connections colored green, red and blue

never used these before on my old graphics a few versions down from this one hdmi was all i needed

you maybe dont need one i just thought id ask i have an NVidia card and i have to use it , its very very thin and has very small plugs on it , its an internal spdif connector if you aint got one than you dont need one

Who made your card (Asus, Sapphire, etc), and does it have a HDMI port or does it use a DVI/HDMI adapter?

Not needed with ATI cards archie as they come with an audio chip (Realtek) integrated on the card.

yes i see now my card doesnt have an actual hdmi output , just an adapter

my card is ATI Radeon 4770 and uses a yellow hdmi adapator too

just in case other people have this probelm i found out what the problem with mine was....

i had a third party dvi adaptor which was ok with picture but didnt support sound
ATI adaptors always have ATI written on them third party dont
