Unsuported Signal ""I NEED DESPERATE HELP"

Hello, im in big big big trouble here.

Have pc running vista home premium 64 .. and a nvidia gforce 9800 gt, hooked up to a sony hd tv at a native res of 1360 x 768

I recently installed a game that when loading set an unsuported res displaying a blank screen with a sony tv error "unsuported signal" so i "ctl - alt - del" to try get back into windows, but when I do that the res is now set to windows too, so Im still looking at a blank screen with the unsuported signal error. There is not alot I can do at this point other then reboot my pc, so I reboot, and just as its about to finaly load windows the screen goes blank with the same unsuported signal error.
I boot into safe mode, and set the res to 800 x 600 in there, then reboot.. same thing happens. I let it load into vista (without seeing it), and goto another pc to try log into the the pc via an internet remote desktop thing, but it wont load for some reason.

Now this is what I need, and I need it desperatly, beacuse the only other option open to me at this point is to either attempt to re-intall vista or re-format my whole harddrive.

1. I need to know what file vista uses for booting
2. I need to know where in that file contains the boot info on setting resolution
3. I need to know how to edit that file so windows vista will boot up with a res of 1360x768 or any standard res like 800 x 600,..etc etc

Please Please Please Help me somone, I am in deep deep trouble here.... I need that PC for work.. Im am scared to death of having to reformat the drive since there is so much on there that I have not had time to back up recently.. Help me somone, I dont know what to do anymore, Im in major deep trouble... help help help"!!!!

tap F8 at bootup , you will be presented with a list of options safemode etc

one of those options is to boot at 800x600 60hz

highlight it with the up down arrows and hit enter to select

it would be easier to borrow another monitor to sort it out ;)

try booting in safe mode, then go to device manager and uninstall/delete your video card. reboot and let windows reinstall the drivers.
also in MSCONFIG there is an option for "base video" on the BOOT tab. that should load a generic driver so you can boot normally. then once you get it sorted out, go back and uncheck that option.
