i have a stock dell inspiron 1545 laptop baught from best buy. i got an error message one day saying "error loading boot information" or something like that i cant remember... so i called dell and they said i didnt have a "software warranty so they could not help me untill i paid" so the only option left was to reinstall vista with the discs they gave me upon purchase. everything was perfect except for the graphics card. before it gave me that error i could put it in a bunch of different resolutions and games would work that needed a decent card. but now there is only 2 resolutions and they are both weird. ones real big and the other is all stretched out. i tried to download updates and drivers both from the actual computer and just on the internet but nothing is working please someone help!!!!!!!!

thank you in advance :)

u need to download the vista version.. whats is it showing you on device manager? does the device have a yellow or red thingy beside?.. when you reinstalled windows did you installed the chipset driver before?? please reply to these queries
thanks

yes there is yellow flags or whatever on standard VGA graphics adapter, network controller, and video controller but all of them dont work or arent installed and wont.

standard VGA graphics adapter: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)
Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available." the check for solutions button did nothing.

network controller: "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver." both the search the internet button and the search computer buttons didnt do much...

video controller: did the same as network controller...

thanks for responding so fast :)

You need to force the installation of the drivers.. Save the drivers on your desktop.. then go device manager.. right click on the device.. click on update or install software driver.. then browse to the driver location and force the installation..

Drivers & Downloads=
there is the link for the proper divers.. download them.. install the chipset driver first then try to install the other drivers.. make sure you select the right OS on the top before downloading if you are using vista 32bit.. select that.. then try to reinstall all the drivers.. if you are getting problem then unzip and save the drivers on the desktop and install it manually as i explained
try this video driver first for your graphic card.. Dell - Support if its not the model.. the installation won't continue, if so try the other ones..
