Low Resolution Video (680x480) Problem

Recently i tried to connect my laptop to my tv via an s-video lead. Suddenly my laptop froze and switched itself off. When i tried to start it back up again, i would just get a black screen (it didnt make it to the login screen). After many attempts at figuring out what was wrong, i finally went onto advanced boot options and selected 'Low Resolution Video (680x480)'. This managed to get to the log in screen and boot up correctly.

Having decided it sounded like a driver problem, i reinstalled and updated my NVIDIA drivers. After completion my laptop now correctly boots up and logs in properly.
But for some reason, since i updated the drivers, whenever i log in normally, the screen looks as though it is set in 'Low resolution video' mode (it has loads of pixels on certain parts of the screen in a grid formation - on the start button and menu, on the side bar and on the title bar of any pop up, also when playing any sort of video).

I have no idea why it has done it, i've tried 'repairing' vista, going back to a restore point etc etc but nothing seems to work.

Any help would be awesome! Cheers guys!
