Nvidia Geforce 900GX2 Problems

Hi,

I am currently having problems with my graphics card(Nvidia Geforce 9800GX2) and I have tried all sorts of things.

Basically I have had my computer just over a year now and it has been working fine up until now.

The other day i was just browsing websites and listening to music when my computer froze and red dots appeared on my screen. I restarted my PC and the same happened again almost instantly when I logged on. I tried another restart and then my resolution was changed and I had this wavy horizontal lines appear on my screen.

I tried re installing the drivers for my graphics card but still didn't work. So i did a fresh install of windows vista (home premium 64bit) updated gfx card and motherboard driver only and it seemed to have fixed the problem, until I downloaded windows updates and installed them.

I tried a system restore to before the windows updates were installed but now i have the same problem, blue wavy lines across my screen and a low resolution.

The device manager recognises my gfx card there and all drivers are upto date, but I am getting Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) on my device manager.

Does anyone have any solutions to what the problem may be.

Thanks in advance!

Hello kai86,
This could be your card dying, it could be your PSU dying, could be just a driver, do you have another PC to try your card in, maybe a friend or relative will let you try it in there machine. This will either confirm or eliminate the card.
Check on temps too, if the temp goes too high it can cause this sort of problem.

If you want to try and re-install the driver, use driver sweeper in safe mode to un-install the old driver, then reboot and install the latest driver from NVidia.

Guru3D - Driver Sweeper (Setup) download from Guru3D.com

At NVidia, use option two.

Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

Hope this helps, good luck and post your results.

Thanks for your response. I tried what you suggested and it still didn't fix the problem. I went down to my local computer shop and picked up a cheap 9800GTX+ and it has worked perfectly. So it was my GFX card.
