GeForce 260GTX OC won't display higher than 800x600

Hello,

I am having an issue with my Sony KDL-46V2500 displaying the native resolution of 1920x1080p. My video card is an nVidia engine on an MSI video card (nVidia GeForce 260GTX OC). I am using an HDI cable that is HDMI on one end and DVI on the other. The HDMI end plugs into the Sony while the DVI is for the GPU.

I had Vista 64bit Ultimate with nVidia drivers that were about a year old and everything worked fine. I got a bug up my arse for Windows 7 but after one failed install and subsequent driver issues I decided to format and reinstall Vista.

To my dismay, now it won't display 1920x1080p with any version of nVidia or MSI drivers and in fact, setting the resolution higher than 800x600 causes the screen to go black.

I tried to mirror the Sony's HDMI input for this desktop as that of another HDMI input for an HP notebook thinking the TV settings were the issue but the settings were already the same.

I thought the install was corrupt so I formatted again but its the same issue.
Any video setting other than 800x600 makes the screen black.

Any thoughts?

Do you have a dvi/vga cable and monitor?

mAny way to test the card in another system?

I tried 2 HDMI cables, one that is HDMI on both ends forcing me to use the MSI supplied HDMI to DVI connector and an HDMI to DVI cable.

The HDMI to HDMI cable is the one the HP laptop uses and displays 1080p fine.

This system is the only one I have able to support this GPU. Everything else is
either too old or a netbook/laptop.

I'm wndering if the hdmi ports messed up, so if you can get a dvi cable, you could see if its all ports or just hdmi.
