New GFX Card - no sound only when playing games

Hi, i recently bought a Geforce GTS 250 which is fully installed - but when playing FFXIV theres no sound at all.

Ive plugged in headphones and listened to music, but i cannot hear any in game sound

Anyone know any tricks?
Apologies if this has already been posted elsewhere and ive missed it

How is the screen connected to the moniutor?

Check the sound settings, and make sure its set for the headphone/speakers.

It might be that the game is trying to put its sound out thed hdmi plug.
