Irregular font

I am noticing an irregularity in the appearance of certain characters, numbers and letters, as they show up on my desktop screen. It ranges all over the lot from letters I may be typing, to web pages. It looks like it was typed with an old rayon typewriter ribbon that has lost most of its ink.

Does anyone have an idea what may be causing this? I'm wondering if it is indicative of a graphics card problem developing or, more ominous, monitor trouble. The printer will reproduce the characters perfectly. Many thanks . Bob

Hi Rich,
Thank you so much for your helpful guideposts to explore. It may take me some time because I am dealing with an extremely slow internet connection. I've been tryng to figure out if there is a driver installed. Under adapters in Device manager there are four items flying yelow: 6TO4 adapter; Microsoft 6TO4 adapter #24; Same but # 9; and Same but #7. I can uninstall these yellow items, but I've been concerned of the result. There is nothing else among the listings which suggest a device driver for the graphics card. I am trying to download what appears to be a universal driver from Nvidia but the slow connection may make this impossible. My ISP is using Verizon lines so you can draw your own conclusions. Will advise, and thanks again.

Hello again Rich,
Thank you so much for your help. Installing an up-to-date driver from Nvidia gave me a new desktop.
I was mistaken about those network adapters I mentioned in my last post. They have nothing to do with the graphics card. Since they are not functioning properly and are flying these yellow triangle, may I uninstall them for clean-up purposes?

I am glad that my advice was of value to you. In the case of the drivers with the yellow markers, I am reluctant to say uninstall them, they may be of other use to you, albeit rarely. I would update them. If an update does not help, I would just ignore it. How often are you going into device manager to and see them? I am sure its not often.
