Fan Speed Issues

The fan on my graphics card has been having issues lately, whenever I'm playing a game, and the temperature rises over 70 degrees, the fan becomes very hyper, and can be heard clearly. When it drops below 70, the speed returns to normal, and it is once again, quiet. This has not happened until just recently, and my fan has never ran at such an extreme rate (Even when the temperature is around 75 degrees). I did install the latest driver, and I believe that may be the issue. Insight, anyone?

What do you mean by that? Should I use something like Riva Tuner? I'm currently using Zotac Firestorm, the default optimization software packaged with the card.

Maybe something like speedfan or coretemp, just to verify.

Oveheating is one of the more serious problems. Just thought it was good to be sure that was not the cause.

Your safe/finee, its just annoying.

You "could" use speed fan to set up custom fan settings, but ugh its alot of work.

My suggestion...... 40% and auto isn't good. I do folding @ home using my gpus, and set one at 65% and 1 at 74% all the time to keep things at 70ish.

I'd use evga preciion, its point n click, and set your fan to a higher speed that you can live with noise wise.

Setting it to 55% will keep it from getting to 75C and the fan going nutz to drop it.

BTW, 70s is where a gpu should sit at full load without Any modifying.

When I'm running a game, the temperature is usually around 66C. Even when I crank the fan up to 100%, it doesn't make a lot of noise, so I might just set it to that.

Its been found after like 80% you only really gain a little more in cooling... And 100% hard on the fan...

I'd try 65-70 tops
