you would need to take out the 450 for the PC to revert back to the onboard one, sorry.

I'd wager its a psu lack of power. His specs say a prebuilt hp.

Thanks disconnecting it fixed everything
My issues were:
- Realtek HD Audio went missing under Sounds in control panel and device manager as well
- about 1 month in screen would flicker (im pretty sure card became lose)

Any idea how i could put my 450 back in and still have my Realtek connected? i have no idea why it would just disappear like that since its still connected.

Only when i removed the 450 and plugged it back into the onboard card did the computer detect realtek audio.. i dont know how that makes sense.. HELP PLEASE!

Also i was wondering, since there is a DVI port on my monitor that's vacant, would it be possible for me to connect the 450 via a dvi cable while my onboard is still connected? Or is the DvI port on the monitor there as a DVI OUT
Really need some feedback thanks

Every card i have plugged in and never lost my audio. All nvidia, all realtech

I always use the drivers just from nvidia.
NVIDIA DRIVERS 267.59 WHQL

The dvi on the monitor is an input, but you can only attach 1 card at a time... I think the monitor will default to the dvi... but not positive.

But are you sure the psu is strong enough to run the 450? I really can't see a hp coming with a large enough psu.

I'd second patonb's suggestion, the audio maybe cutting out due to lack of power, rep+

hmm power supply seemed to be fine, i mean not making any noise at all and not at all hot either. so i couldnt possibly have uninstalled needed motherboard drivers related with the sound when i uninstalled the video card?

That's the thing about PSU's, they can't tell you whether or not they are working properly, most common way to find out is when your system starts developing faults, mine used to cut out my USB ports lol, then it died a few weeks later, you could try and install realtek drivers after installing the graphics card again, but if the problem persists, I would definitely think about a new PSU

Pop open the case and read the numbers on the side... Its usually a chart, and it should say 12V1 12V2 12V3 and each should have amp readi ng too, 12A 18A etc.

Edit,

From web searching, your hp only has a 300W psu. Nvidia claims a 400W is needed, while usually the 400W is oversized... your stock 300W isn't a great make and so

Yha your psu is the reason.
