Solved Problems With Dual-Monitors in a Multi-Boot System

Hi There everyone!

This is a new build. Please check the spec's for this machine.

My default OS is Win 7 Ultimate 64 Bit. When I am using this OS all Is good with my monitors. My left screen is my primary screen and has the start button and all my short-cut icons on it which is the way I would like it to be in all three Os'. I can open many panes and move them back and forth to any screen I want.

When I restart the system to enter into Win Vista Home premium My Right screen is the primary screen and I cannot move any panes into the left screen and i cannot move the cursor into the left screen.

When I open the device manager in this OS there are no problems showing in either the display adapters or the monitor criteria.

I have tried correcting the problem in both the windows control panel in displays and also in the Nvidia control panel and I can't seem to solve this problem.
What do i need to do to get my left monitor to be my primary screen and to move window panes from left to right and vice versa.

Not sure but I think this is a driver issue.

Thank you for your help.

Hi ranger, welcome to VF, it is a bit of a problem, I assume you've updated your drivers from Nvidia's site? I've not come across a problem like this for a while, but it does sound like Nvidia's drivers at fault, have you tried switching the dvi ports around, might fix it, and have you also tried reverting back to WDDM drivers and see if it is Nvidia's fault? I often find also that when you try and adjust a setting on nvidia control panel, you need to set the resolution to low to get results, however that may just be me :-)

Hi There MrNeeds!

Thank you for the response!

Yes, I'm using the latest driver from Nvidia and I've been mucking about with this issue for about 5 days. This is a new build and I'm just in the process of tweaking everything in all three OS'.

Rather late last night in my time zone I tried deleting the AOC drivers I had installed and went back into Personalization in the control panel and in displays Lo! and Behold! The driver Gnomes had been good to me and my monitors were working as I wished them to.

I probably should have taken some notes as to what I did and where but in failing to do so I most likely could not repeat the steps I took.

However, it is working now. Looks like it may have been a conflict between AOC drivers and Nvidia drivers.

I'm responding to you in Win 7 so I'm going to re-boot and open in Vista to check and insure nothing negative has happened tween then and now. I'll let you know in a moment.

Again, thanks kindly for your help.
