Hello and welcome to the forum.

Can you tell me what is the name of the game and what you were doing at the time when it messed up.

Were you online or not...

Suggestions :

1. Re-set DPI :
Right click on an open space of the desktop > Personalize > left column, Adjust font size (DPI) > uac prompt > click Default scale (96 DPI ).

2. Resolution :
Right click on an open space of the desktop > Personalize > Display Settings > move the slider until you find a suitable resolution. Check your user manual, see if it tells you which resolution is for your computer.

Here is a table of guide line:

screen%20size%20vs%20resolution.png

3. Do a system restore. Pick the date when your screen was in proper size as your restore point.
Start button > search box, type system restore >press Enter key > uac prompt > click Choose a different restore point > Next > select the date as your restore point, click it > Next > Finish
Sit back and wait. The machine will re-start when it is done.

Just looked for your laptop with similar specs, I can only find the Emachines G420 which is 1GB RAM and 9100m graphics card, it's 17" and a resolution of 1440x900 <try this resolution and it should be ok
