No display adapters in device manager

Hi guys,

Recently because of trying to install bf3 , i screwed up my display drivers , no i dunno why my resoulution is screwed up and i have no display adapters heading in device manager and i cant run any game , i did try installing drivers like nvidia but the installer would just fail.

pls i nid help on this , thanks

Hello dudeman 39, i had a similar problem and i did a system restore to a point before this issue. At that time i was able to use device manager and confirm i had all installed drivers. Hope this helps you.

Hey i did try system restore but after awhile it will change back and my screen resoulution is screwed.


its a acer aspire M5711

and its processor is intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q2800 @2.33GHz 2.34GHz

and 2GB memory ram and system type is a 64 bit operating system

Okay, so you do have a nvidia card.. had to double check.

You said you tried to reinstall the driver, where from?

IF You want take a screenshot of your device manager, it might be something else.

Hello, its me again. Just wanted to share another story re: display adapter drivers that a friend had, that i did solve. He had xp sp3. allowing a command function of scannow to be performed, so my line of thinking is that you have a register issue and will need to repair the registry. As i am new, i will see what your final disposition is so that i may learn also.. Good luck with this, i know you are in good hands here.

@paton: i tried to install the new driver which i a nvidia 285.38 frm my desktop , i tried to do a clean install but failed.

I would use the repair function at this pt to repair files that are missing or corrupted. I just downloaded the manual for your computer and no where in it does it mention a recovery console or how to access one . While at the Acer site, i looked at the drivers for a 64 bit system for that model number and i see this :

Your manual is very generic and did not give alot of info. but , from my experience of using Windows, You need to access the recovery console or use a Dvd to repair the files. This console is usually in the all programs from your start button, or you would need to press Alt and F11 at boot up.. maybe F8 to see advanced start up options.
Post back more info on whether you can access the recovery console to repair files or not, and we can see what else can be done to assist you.. Again, thanks for bringing your issue here.

Unless someone else has a better solution, i would think so, method 2. I understand for as little as 25 dollars a dvd that you will need can be bought.
