Screen resolution

My three year old son was messing with the computer and has some how changed the resolution. I tried readjusting through the controls on the monitor, even taking it back to the factory settings. However, it did not seem to help. It is so light it is hard to find the text boxes and search boxes to type in.

Does anyone know of any other options I might try. Please keep in mind that I am just an average user with out any major knowledge of computers. So I need it explained in layman's terms.

Yard Dog's suggestion would be the first thing I'd try. Your graphics settings are probably stored in the registry. For future reference there's a free program that backs up your registry settings called ERUNT I've been using it for years since Windows NT through XP and it still works in Vista and W7.

It only backs up the registry. Sometimes you can get registry settings back without losing stuff like updates or newer versions of programs you have put on. The read me file is pretty complex but the easiest is just to double click the ERUNT program icon and just keep clicking OK to back up. To get registry settings back go into \Windows\ERDNT folder and pick the folder you want to restore from. Double click ERDNT.EXE and it will reload registry settings. Then you reboot. Perfect for something like file associations that got wiped out or that kind of thing.

Why not just right click on the desktop and select Personalize. Then go to Display Settings and change the resolution?

If they have a Catalyst or NVIDIA control panel, they could adjust it there also.

Because it's not in a known state. The OP has no way to know what was done to the settings, registry, etc.. As stated, he can barely see the screen to use the system.

Another good reason to have layers of backup.ERUNT, restore points, system images, file backups.

Glad you are solved, i messed up my graphics once, i installed a beta driver, thankfully, i had a restore point to go back to.
