Disable video card in Command Prompt

Hay I reimaged my hp dv2000 laptop and my nvidia gpu died and I need to disable it so my laptop will boot. I cant boot in safe mode because it says I need to finish the vista setup and I cant finish that because it wants to boot with the video card. So is there any way I can boot with the video card off. I do have a BB Capture Driver on my laptop but my pc wont boot with that one unless I disable the nvidia one. So all I am asking is how can I disable the vidoe card in command prompt. I do have my recovery cd.

    Thanks.

Re: Disable drivers in command prompt

If you disable the graphics driver, you will see nothing on the screen. What are you going to do from there?

I know of no procedure to disable drivers in cmd. The way to disable device drivers is to uninstall them in Device Manager.

But I suspect that you have a different problem all together. What exactly is happening at boot time.

When you say "video card" I assume you mean the onboard graphics since most laptops don't have a discrete graphics card. Leaving the graphics as is or disabling the graphics isn't going to help you since you won't be able to see anything in either case. I don't know what symptoms are telling you the graphics died.

I got looking around and I guess you have the Nvidia GeForce Go 7200 option. It seems a lot of people have had problems with the graphics on this model.

I don't know if you can disable it in the BIOS. You would just have to look.

I also see there's a Setup Utility that you can access by hitting F10 at boot. Maybe that has some options.

    Just some ideas.
