Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Install problem

Okay I'm going to try and make this short and sweet:

My old graphics card went bad (the fan went out, it would over heat and crash my computer. It was a geforce 420). So I went out and bought a new one (geforce gtx 650). I installed it properly, turned on the computer, and it started working fine. It said it found new hardware, installed it, and prompted a restart. So I restarted the computer. When it turned back on, windows loaded, then the log-in screen pops up pixelated, I can't see anything, and I can't continue to download the drivers. When I switch back to the onboard video card (with the blue VGA cable) and try to download the drivers, it wont let me due to the fact the "hardware cannot be found".

    any suggestions?

    Hi,

Please follow the steps to install the drivers:

    1. Uninstall the old video drivers completely from the computer and then restart the computer.
    2. After restarting the computer, ensure that are no nVidia drivers are available.
    3. Connect the monitor to the new video card.
    4. Then install the drivers on the computer.
    5. Restart the computer and check if the computer is working fine.

Please post back with the results.

More important than above, Wht is your power supply? As in, how many watts?

Does your 650 need a 6 pin pci-e connector? Is it plugged in?

The 650 needs alot more power to run properly compared to the 420.

I uninstalled everything nVidia of the computer, restarted and plugged in the new graphics card, and I am still having the same issue. I cannot download the drivers because it still loads pixelated after the windows screen.

I have a 600 watt power supply, and yes it is plugged into a 6 pin pci to 4 molex connectors into the pcu.

Try safemode with networking. if its driver related, safe mode won't have issues.

Then d/l the newest driver and install it there.

The nvidia drivers are standalone, so you can d/l them to a usb drive and run them on the other computer.

Are you still XP? or vista?

    Hi,
In addition to what Patonb has said, ensure that the cable between the monitor and the computer are connected properly.

Also, you can try to go to F8 and go to Enable VGA Mode and try to download and install the latest drivers.

Please post back with the results.
