Ok. so this computer was a gift a few months ago. got a virus and moved kinda in one fell swoop. got internet at the new place and thought i resolved the problem. that was about 3 weeks ago. Over the past week i started getting registry errors.. system 32 problems. assuming it was the previous virus i ran a factory restore. Did so with the hard drive partition and not recovery cd's. when windows started back up i started downloading updates programs etc that i know i needed. Finished downloading one game went to play it and got an error "could not load direct3d". Immediately opened Device Manager and dxdiag. neither are showing any graphics card.. not even a name. Device manager gives me an "(error code 10)". Been to HP.com ran their diagnostic test and attempted to dl the driver associated and it says i dont have the requirements. During this time i also downloaded and paid for SpeedyPCPro. claims there are no more registry errors,malware,etc. but still having same problems! HELP! Gaming is the main reason i own the computer!

here are the specs of my computer. also dl'd BelarcAdvisor to have a 2nd search for graphics card if any of that information is needed: HP-Model:m9340f IntelCore2quad CPU @2.66GHz with 64bit Vista

That's the site from Hp itself, if that's your pc you can just download all the drivers from there. That's what i would do, but im not a master in this.

Ow wait, it seems that they dont link the drivers.
But you do get the name of the card you would be using, so finding a driver after that wouldnt be so hard.

hey nshock, run microsoft safety scanner and malwarebytes free or trial and see if that finds any thing bad. then you need to find out what type of graphics you have. integrated or a real graphics card. if it is an nvidia go to the website and download your drivers. if it is an intel go to their website and do the same. you should have a system tag number on your box to find out what you have inside of it. i have always been able to get drivers from hp website without problems. hope this helps also don't pay for registry cleaners most are a joke and their are to many free ones that you can get. ccleaner is a good choice imo. learn how to use it. what kind of antivirus do you use. avast free antivirus has saved me a few times. good luck. poorguy
