7950 Problem

I have a 7950GT on a K8NGMF9 Gigabyte mobo, Vista 5744 RC2 and a very similar problem. In the device manager I have a ! next to my video card, and under the properties of the video card, I get this error, "This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)"

Also it states the location as being "PCI bus 2, device 0, function 0" This card is installed in the PCI E slot so this could be the problem.

Anybody got any ideas on a fix?

ALSO people who also have this problem post up your your card, mobo, and vista version, maybe we can come up with a fix for this.

Feel free to msg me on AIM: ThinkThankPunk

RC2 would raise those sorts of issues, as I couldn’t even find the drivers for half of my laptop’s hardware. The full release (Public Access) of Vista should have some of the bugs fixed from RC2, I recommend going out and buying it. nVidia are publicizing their latest Driver build supposedly in several days. I'm quite sure the PCI-e bus is in fact referred to a PCI Bus. >.O

EDIT:
What type of 7950GT is it?

I'm running a Geforce 7950 GX2, which is a twin SLI card. As of yet nvidia haven't updated their drivers to incorporate SLI technology in 7 series cards. Generally speaking the driver support for 7 series cards is at best crap at the moment.
I contacted Nvidia and the reply was that better support for 7 series cards was probably going to be at the latter part of March. Till then their priority was going to be sorting out the new 8 series cards.

I am having a similar problem, i have to video cards installed, 1 works fine, the other cannot be used, not even a little bit, and i am getting the code 12 error.
Vista business
1 7300 gt oc overclocked 256 ram
1 7300 gt oc 256 ram
1 gig of ddr2 ram
asus m2n4-sli (am2)
AMD athlon 64 3800+ (single core)
80 gig sata hardrive, and 2 10 gig ide hardrives

This setup worked pefectly fine in xp, both cards worked, with all 4 screens and in sli mode. Any body have a solution?

It was my not very nice K8N5gmf9 gigabyte board. I switched out to a new board and now I dont get the error anymore. I tried 3 different video cards and i got the same problem in the old video card. So people with this problem maybe its your motherboard.

Well, i guess it could be, but it seems to just be the two 7300s that my computer does it with, and plus it did work in windows xp so it sounds like a driver issue.

I had exactly the same problem, although because i didn't have a spare mobo, I upgraded the bios on my Gigabyte K8N5gmf9 to F7 (it was on F2)

Booted vista and it 'found' the PCI bridge and hey presto it all works...no new motherboard required.

Out of interest which version of the bios were you running?

Im glad i didnt find this post before I went out and got my new mobo and my new dual core pentium chip. I probably could have fixed it by doing what you said. I have no clue what version of the bios i was running. I remember updating it once a long time ago, but who knows.

My asus motherboard us up-to-date with the latest bios 0802 I believe it is, which came out on February second, and still it is a no go. BFG (the maker of the video cards) says that it is a driver issue, but still nothing.

Hi,

My response was purely relted to monko's problems, in that he was experiencing the same problem as me on the same mobo.

I am pretty sure you are right that your problem is more to do with the nvidia drivers particularly for SLi configurations.

Have you tried their newest beta river? I know Sli didn't work on the earlier drivers, but the latest drivers supposedly support SLi mode.

Saying that though, the latest version of Ntune is supposed to be 64 bit compatible but doesn't work for me!

I've just tried running PowerDVD and after about 5 minutes the picture freezes. Infact the whole PC freezes and the only way you can sort it out is to re-start the computer.

Anyone else had this problem? I think it may be connected to the graphics drivers being crappy at the moment.

Hey bettsaj, have you tried the latest drivers? I remember reading about DVD playback in the release notes!

I get the "not enough ressources" for a ... high definition audio (that doen't exist, as it is a network card), and all the cars on my PCI Bus aren't detected !
I believe, as some of you, the motherboard is the problem.
