Vista - windows media player keeps popping up withou prompt

hey guys,
so i just got my new monitor today and i got a new keyboard and mouse a few days ago to complete my pseudo desktop setup as ill be using my laptop in place of a tower. so i set the monitor up using an hdmi to connect to my laptop and everything looks nice. but for some reason now, Microsoft media player would randomly pop up without prompt periodically. does anyone know whats the problem here? i though it may have been something to do with connecting the hdmi (causing some kind of auto prompt), but ive connected my laptop to my hdtv before and this has never happened. ive also undefaulted all programs that were defaulted to wmp, its still popping up randomly. i have an lenovo u330 on windows vista home premium sp2.

Try this,

1. Press start,
2. In search bar write, "msconfig" (no quote mark's), press enter,
3. Goto services and look for Windows Media entry's, uncheck one box at a time and press apply, then reboot, keep going until you find the culprit.

Backup your registry when prompted.

i tried what you instructed and so far so good, ive browsed for about an hour and media player has not popped up once. so it seems like it has been fixed. thanks for your help
