| Junior Member Rep Power: 4  |  Setup has encountered an error during installation Everytime I try to install office, I'm getting an error as quoted in the title. Anyone knows what might cause this? Thanks for any tips. |

| Newbie Rep Power: 4 | Re: Setup has encountered an error during installation I am having a similar issue. I was running Office 2007 fine then this morning I installed Visio 2003. It wonked my whole MS setup. All of my office link icons are now windows default, indicating that the "Start in Directory" has been lost. When I try to repair my Office install, hoping to rewrite the registry entries, whether from the Control Panel or the disk I get the same error. Hopefully someone has seen this problem and will respond. i will keep provide any update I come up with. |

 Member Rep Power: 66 | Re: Setup has encountered an error during installation I had the same problem, what i did: Deactivated UAC (log said some registry entries could not be performed) Stopped AV/Firewall And it worked. Maybe it can help you, doesn't cost anything to try. |
