why its keep coming on?

Everytime I remove the preferred wireless network in my Vista laptop, after few seconds its filled up with few of junks [linksys, I dont know whose network is that?]

Is there anyway where I can remove the preferred wireless network completely?

I am wonderd and how my laptop is connected to the unsecure wireless network without my knowlege? Do you people have any clue?

Help me with that..!

Re: why its keep coming on?

Hi Raj!

If you can get to the properties of the wireless internet connection there is a check box that states "automatically connect to non secure networks". I think if you uncheck that then it should not connect to anything unless you specify.

The "few of junks" I think is normal. Your laptop will purposely look for any wireless access points that can be contacted and list them for you. I think this is by design. Hope this helps! Let me know!

In Vista you can, via the command line, filter the list of available wireless networks. To filter out ad-hoc networks run the following from a command line (running as admin, all on one line)

netsh wlan add filter permission=denyall networktype=adhoc

to reverse this again run the following:

netsh wlan del filter permission=denyall networktype=adhoc
