Accessing the ethernet

Hello all, When I take the laptop to work I can see the wireless network but can't connect. After trying to diagnose the problem, it says it can't and I should see if I'm in range (I am), or if I have permission (I do). Appreciate any help Shmoo

the diagnose and repair doesn't always work, is there a way you can toggle your wireless lan card on/off? sometimes resetting it helps. also is there a wep security key in place on the network? at home i have to re-enter the passcode manually a lot of times to get back onto my network

Thanks. Maybe you could show me the way to toggle the card? I opened device manager but I'm not sure what to look for. In network adapters? I have there a Realtek...fast ethernet nic. Is that it?

Yeah just disable and then enable in either Device Manager or in Network Connections. On my laptop I also had a switch, but I dunno if you have that or not.

Ok. I do have a switch. Thing is, when I come home it works fine, and nobody else seems to have a problem at work. The LAN is completely open - no passwords or anything. But I'll try your suggestion next time I go in. Thanks again.
