Vista - wierd problem with internet connectivity

please read here for the info AnandTech - wierd problem with vista ultimate 64 bit and internet i was able to fix the problem with a ststem restore but i would like to know what is causing this. it has happened to me twice in the last 3 months or so. the first time it happened right after i run windows update and installed a new NIC drivers as well as some updates. i ended reinstalling windows that time as i had system restore turned off. after reinstalling i left system restore on and installed no updates at all. i left it at default install to see if that eliminated the problem. what are your thoughts on this? what is breaking in vista to cause this? thank you to all that reply
