| Vista Home Premium 32bit | internet access with programs other than IE I am new owner of a Vista PC. I recently bought an HP 9720 notebook that came with Vista HP pre-installed. I can access the internet via IE through my router and wireless connection, no problems. Connection is stable, never drops out, etc. I can download programs, no problem either. I cannot get Skype (ver 3.1.0.152) and ICQ 6.0 (build 6043) to connect with this computer. Skype tells me I have a proxy server problem. I tried all the obvious (at least to me) things, like turing proxy settings off, disabling all the firewalls I could find, etc. I never had these issues running from my XP HE and XP-pro computers - the standard installs worked and no computer expertise was required. Maybe the versions I installed are too old to talk to the internet with Vista HP? Any insight would be highly appreciated. Thanks |
