Can't connect to network shares

Hi, I have a private network with 2 vista machines both running home premium 32bit and a mac running leopard, I can see every other machine and connect to them all but it won't allow me to connect to any of the shares I have set up in a root directory. I have tried to share 2 drives c & d with those names and set up the advanced priveleges for everyone with full control and I can see them from my other vista computer but it won't let me connect, stating I do not have permission to use this network resource, access denied. Am I missing something really simple here? I know it is a problem with the permissions on NTFS drives as I can share a fat32 drive at the root and have no problems, incidentally that is the only drive I can connect to from my mac as well.

I have followed all the guides and set up the sharing as reccommended on the guides on this site, all the settings were correct, the only thing I have changed is the NTLMv2 settings from 3 to 1 in the registry, but that is just for Samba and the mac to connect as far as I am aware and it shouldn't be that as I only did that with one of my vista machines.

So is there any way to connect to a share on the root, I am sure I had it working at one time with Vista, but that may have been several installations ago now, any help or advice would be gratefully received, thanks
