Vista - New comp, cable internet, WTF?!?!?! HELP!!!!!

Okay, so here's the dill yo...

I've had Comcast cable internet for some time now. Comcast sucks, I know.

So I bought a new computer the other day. I got an HP Pavilion a6312.

For some reason, something's a little funky with the internet, and honestly, it's got me about to go postal!


When I turn the computer on, I usually have to reset the modem..... It shows me the little icon in the taskbar and says it's connected to a network which is local only. Then after a modem rest and waiting a couple minutes, it finally connects.It just acts odd. Comcast came out and looked at it and said that with Vista (I have home premium) there's a lot of little things that might make it not work. (Basically, he didn't know what was wrong.)

Then, I've tried to hook a router to my main comp, this one, and put a receiver on the computer upstairs. We won't go into the pain in the ass headache that was, and what all ended up broken from me getting mad! (Main reason Comcast came out was to replace my modem that somehow got punched tp pieces)




Basically, does anyone have any ideas? This happen to anyone before? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!
