Hello, hope someone can help. I managed to set up my network one desktop running vista home premium. one laptop connected by wireless connection. I can see all both computers and share files. The printer works from the desktop and is set for sharing. The wireless laptop is also set for sharing but comes up with an error anythime you send to the printer. Any suggestions. This is getting kind of frustrating.

I solved my problem. For anyone who cares. I needed to install the printer into a sharing folder. Then I had to make it the default printer in the control panel for the printers. Seems easy now, but sometimes, vista is not very logical in how it functions. Also could not find that bit of information about the shared printers folder anywhere. Just dumb luck i guess

Help...

This is sorta along the same lines but I'm trying to help a customer connect to wireless printer. I've searched all over to no avail.

It's a Brother all in one FC885CW model. It has wireless and I even reset it to factory defaults and verified that the wireless is active. The customer has a new Gateway laptop with 32 bit Vista Home Premium. The laptop sees the printer in the available networks but the printer has the yellow shield with the exclamation mark on it. When I try to connect, it gives the normal "not secure" warning but when I continue, it cannot connect.

There is not a router involved and it is just the laptop and the printer. I set the laptop card to ad hoc like the printer and verified channel settings and all.

I disabled the firewall and all of the A/V and spyware programs but it still won't connect. I called Brother support but they didn't have a clue. I had to take a break and I'll go back tomorrow. I'm going to take my XP laptop to see if it can connect.

Any ideas????

ok...

It's fixed. After searching this forum for hours, I came across a similar problem. Some of the suggestions were about sharing. I turned on file sharing and turned off password protect. That seems to have done it. I also checked "save network" when I connected to the printer in available wireless networks page. I configured two Vista laptops at the customer site and all is well.

Thanks to this forum, I'll sleep better tonight.
