Norton Ghost/ network adapter reset

Hi all
I have this particular problem which showed at the same time when I installed Norton Ghost 14.0.
Last night I bough WD 1TB My Book external hard drive and decided to do a back up.
Funny thing was that I was getting an error that NG has lost connection to a server?
and could not complete a back up. Tried few times and same error appeared. Hard drive was in FAT32 partition so this morning I though I will reformat that drive to NTFS (took 11 hours) and to try again.
This time I did not receive any errors as in lost connection to a server but my internet connection was lost. So Vista Ultimate has detected a problem and reset my network driver (Realtek).
This was not happening before. Coincidence?Maybe but I don't believe it is.
Is there an option to be selected not to switch internet or something?
Running Vista Ultimate 64, Q6600 4Gb Ram dual boot ( 2HD XP and Vista)

anyone else experienced similar? Any ideas as to what the problem is and how to fix it?

Thanks
