| X64 | Vista and wirless internet no good. Hi. I purchased a new laptop which is operating on VISTA x64 yesterday and haven't been able to get it to connect to the wireless lan network at home. My previous laptop and the PC connect without any problems. The vista laptop sees the wireless network and I have added it's MAC to the router but when I try and connect, a error message says to reset my router which I have already done. I suspect that the router is denying access to the vista laptop despite me having added it as a reservation address. Does anyone know a way around this problem (laymans terms please, I'm not terribly technical) |

Let me know how it works out. Steven |

| Vista Home Premium 32-bit & Vista Ultimate 64-bit both Service Pack 2 W7 Pro RTM 7600 32 & 64 | Re: Vista and wirless internet no good. Hi VP101, In addition to Steven's suggestion, if possible connect using an ethernet cable. Depending upon the router and laptop, you may need to configure both in order to communicate properly, and often the only way to do this is through a direct connection. Follow the instruction manual for your router for details on how to do this. Dwarf |

| Vista Ultimate x64 MAK, OpenSolaris 5, Gentoo 2008.1.... | Re: Vista and wirless internet no good. For a nontechnical person, you've already accomplished a lot.... However, the laptop that you bought - did it come with pre-installed Security software? If so, disable *that* and allow your laptop to connect to the router for the first time. Then, with the connection active, re-enable the security software so that it can allow that connection to go through. Sorry cannot provide more details, but until we know *what* security software came with your laptop (McAfee, Norton, etc) we can;t tell you how to disable it. |
