Lag every 60 seconds in vista - Wireless Zero G

Hi, I have recently updated to Vista from XP.

In XP I used to have a problem where I got wireless lag every 60 seconds due to XP Wireless Zero G polling for new networks.

I managed to fix this by disabling windows Zero g and using my wireless card's manufacturer software.

In vista- this isnt possible. The WLAN service is integrated with the Zero G equivalent. Disabling the service disables my wireless.

Unfortunately I cannot use my manufacturer's software in Vista, as it seems to piggyback off the Vista software. Disabling the vista software disables it too.

I have two wireless cards, a DLink DWA-510 (yes that is DWA not DWL) and a Gigabyte WP01GS. The Gigabyte has Windows Vista specific drivers but it does not install its own utility. The Dlink installs its own utility but as above when WLAN service is disabled , its disabled too.

So, im stuck trying to stream music or play games with lag every 60 seconds.

I have tried doing the manual disabling of WLAN via the command prompt, and running Vista anti lag and WLAN optimiser, and all the other solutions available via google. None work.

My questions therefore are this:
1) is there any way to fix this problem beyond the ways I have tried?
2) is there wireless software available? independent of the Vista WLAN service for the above cards? (I tried the third party software wi-fi hopper, but this is 32 bit only - another program like this would be great)
3) if none of the above works, are there any wireless cards which we KNOW work with vista (ie have their own wireless access software)?

Thanks again

I posted the exact same thing about a month ago and I can't actually tell you if I got the lag to work, because my old router doesn't like Vista at all. It runs at about 1/10th the speed it should run so It was always lagging. I ended up using a long ethernet cable from my router and it gives me the speeds I want. I'm going off to college soon and they have internet in the dorms so I'll probably just use ethernet anyways.

That link has some decent information though. My original thread regarding the same problem.

This link too.

Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately I have tried all the suggestions in the thread you posted, and I have tried disabling WLAN as suggested in the second link you posted.

If I disable WLAN I just lose all of my wireless completely.

Does anyone have any other ideas?
