Can't set up router on Vista!

I have a Buffalo AirStation Wireless-G Routher WHR-HP-G54 and I can't get it to work with my HP Pavilion. My old EagleTec works, but I need to increase the range.

HOW can I get the Buffalo Router to work? Can it be that Buffalo doesn't work on Vista machines?

I read somewhere that "The unit is OS independent and can be configured without installing any software via it's web interface on http://192.168.1.1/". I tried this and it asks for a username and password!!! So it didn't work!

Any advice?

Re: Can't set up router on Vista!

User name and password differs with every router. default username and password for your router: Username: root, leave the password field blank.

Hope this helps.

Re: Can't set up router on Vista!

I shifted the cables to the new router and did the Setup Wizard and it said "Connection http://192.168.1.1/ timed out" and then it stopped. Never got to the username password point. What does that mean?

The Buffalo will work fine. According to the manual, the default IP address is 192.168.11.1

Go here http://www.buffalo-technology.com/fi...G54-manual.pdf

Follow the instructions carefully.
