Re: Folder Shared,but cannot access

Just sharing the folder isn't enough especially in Vista, make sure you set the permissions to FULL access so you can read/write and move/remove files.

That should give you the access you are looking for.

Re: Folder Shared,but cannot access

also, make sure that instead of just sharing and setting the permissions correctly, you add the correct user (for me it's "everyone", but then the dutch translation of that) in the security tab.

I had everything done right, I thought, and still couldn't share, until I figured out that that was also needed....

Re: Folder Shared,but cannot access

If you need to share data with anyone who can see your computer (for example everyone on your Intranet / Home LAN / LAN), use the Public folders - that is what they are there for, and they have the correct permissions already set. If you need to share only with a particular user, then you'll need to set up permissions for that username and password to access it.

Also, Vista shows partitions in Explorer as disks, unless you have the partition hidden / not assigned a drive letter. If it is hidden / not assigned a drive letter, you cannot share it.
